    Rules summary

    Grading & GPA

    • GPA and CGPA are on a 4.00 scale.
    • Any fractional mark is rounded up to the next integer.
    • Letter grades are mapped from marks; calculations always use grade points, not letters.
    • Courses with grade F contribute 0.00 grade points but their credit hours are still counted.

    Grade equivalence

Percentage / marks Letter grade Grade point (GP)
    85 and above (85–100) A 4.00
    80–84 A- 3.70
    75–79 B+ 3.30
    70–74 B 3.00
    65–69 B- 2.70
    61–64 C+ 2.30
    58–60 C 2.00
    55–57 C- 1.70
    50–54 D 1.00
    Below 50 or Absent (0–49) F 0.00

    Special grades (policy)

    • W – Withdrawal; does not count in GPA or CGPA and is not shown in the final transcript.
    • FW – Forced Withdrawal; does not count in GPA or CGPA but is shown in the final transcript.
    • I – Incomplete; given in case of absence from exam. Must be completed within one month via a special exam. If not completed, marks = 0 and GP = 0.00 and it then counts in GPA and CGPA.

    CGPA rules

    • CGPA is calculated as a weighted average of all courses taken in the degree.
    • The weight for each course is its credit hours (CH).
    • Overall CGPA is computed directly from individual course grade points, not by averaging semester GPAs.
    • The minimum CGPA required for a degree is 2.00.

    CGPA formula

    CGPA = Σ(ci × GPi) / Σ(ci)

where ci is the credit hours of the i-th course and GPi is the grade point obtained in that course; n is the total number of courses in the degree.

    Worked example

Suppose a student has 10 courses with a total of 31 credit hours and the sum of all CH × GP values is 93.3.

    Then CGPA = 93.3 ÷ 31 = 3.01.
